I have a 55g tank that has been running for 3 months and has 3 chiclids all about1.5 inches long (still young) and a pleco. I was wondering if it would be okay to put a south American puffer in the tank.

I wouldn't advise it. Puffers can and will bite other fish's fins. They do much better in a species only tank.

i have been told that S.A. are less agressive then most puffers and the chiclids are agressive fish themselfs. Im just confussed ive had people tell me yes and no. :S

While SAs are the least aggressive puffer, they are still aggressive. And if they are put with aggressive fish they will start biting fins and ripping your tank apart since they will be annoyed by the active chiclids
