puffer fish

i have had a puffer fish for about a week.
its been fine but now it is bending its tail forward & to the side & sinking.
what is wrong & what do i need to do.
please help

What kind of puffer is it?
What size of tank is it in?
What has it been eating?
What tankmates are with it?

Have you tested the water for ammonia & nitrites?
How warm is the water?
How hard is the water?
What's the pH?
have you added salt?
How long has the tank been set up?
Is it cycled?
