ok... so i presently have two GSP's in a 10g tank (UK). I bought them from tiny and plan to move them very soon into a 55g tank, minimum.

now i'm asking about DP's for the moment as I've fallen in love with puffers. how many DP's could I keep in a 10g, and what sort of tank mates could they live with, if any?

thanks in advance

Dp's are actually freshwatter, so a mod can probally move this to oddballs.
But a ten gallon will hold two dwarf puffers and tankmates don't work longterm 99% of the time

Many folks have luck w/ottos & shrimp. You could keep 3 DPs (1M & 2 F, or 3 F).

edible ones. :p but as the proud owner of 2 GSP, you should be almost used to having a species tank. welcome to the wonderful world of Fish With Teeth.

thanks every1.... so three DP's would do ok in a 10g tank then. i hear they get on with bumble bee gobies?

and are they purely fresh water? or do they like slightly brackish like my GSP's?

I agree with VantgE here, a 10G will hold 2 dwarf puffers, not 3.
I tried 3 in a 15G, and that didn't even work. The general rule for dwarf puffers is 1 puffer per 5 US Gallons.

Dwarf puffers are strictly freshwater and do not require or appreciate any salt in their water at all. Bumblebee gobies on the other hand, do prefer some salt. There is 1 species of bumblebee goby that will live out near their completely life in freshwater though, and they are indeed mostly tolerated by dwarf puffers.

Did you check our fish index for information?
