I just went go feed my puffer. Usually, he gets a little excited when I go near the tank, and immediately starts searching for food. Usually, when I approach the tank, he is unsure and will usually back off for a second. However, tonight when I fed him his food, he went right past it, and just swam right into the wall. Every bit of the food got sucked up the filter, and he was still buzzing around past food. I remember him doing this once before. Could he be blind? I really don't know what to think right now, but I'm a little worried.

My SAP does exactly this sometimes too. I usually withold food for a day and then by the next day he is fine again.

Sometimes he does this when I feed him something that's not his favourite (i.e. if I feed him anything other than bloodworm or glassworm). In that case I still leave it a day before re-feeding but he gets the same food again. I know he likes his bloodworm or glassworm, but there's nothing worse than a fussy little puffer fish!

It could possibly be blind as puffers are particularly susceptible to diseases and infections because they have skin instead of scales. Just monitor Puff Daddy and check to see what hes like when it isn't time for food. Good luck

I doubt it's blindness, unless you notice visible differences in the way the puffer's eyes appear.

One of my DPs lets food go past him sometimes, but once he's not eaten for a day or a day and a half, he's so hungry that he goes after the food without mercy. I'd say your puffer's just not that interested right now, but if he didn't eat at all, it should go nuts for your next feeding.

Alright sorry I didn't update sooner, but it was a false alarm, but he was acting strange. I think he does this when he's overexcited.
