hey all,

i have a 40 gal tank with a coralife fixture, the type that sits on top of the aquarium frame. has anyone built a hood for this type of setup? i really like the coralife fixture as my plants love the light.

the reason i'm making a hood is only to elimiate the view of the bulbs (when the tank is viewed from a seated position)

i dont think this will be too hard, just means extending the sides 1/4" to accomodate the brackets. i'll be leaving the top open to avoid condensation and allow the lights to vent off the heat they produce.

I built a hood myself that holds a Coralife aqualight fixture. I'd be happy to post pictures so you can get a feel for it. It's real cool. The fixture sits on tops, with trimming all around so no light can be seen from anywhere but in the water. It also keep the light 4-6" (forget exactly) off the surface of the water, so the light doesn't heat up the water at all. Let me know if you want more details.
