those of you that half a well developed shrimp tank, would you mind sharing your stats?

i have a new small nano with shrimps and would like to know good feeding habits, comfortable water temp...etc.

anything else to promote a healthy life, and even breeding let me know!

Ficious, you could do worst than have a look over on PlanetInverts. They are US based and have some excellent guides to shrimp keeping. Or you could even pop in and see us on UK Shrimp, but we are mainly UK centric in our discussions. We do have a member from the US however. lol

Different species have different requirements. You might want to specify what shrimps you want to keep first. In general, shrimps are much more sensitive than fish so pristine water condition is a must in shrimp keeping. Also, you can find a few species profiles listed under the Fish Species Index section. :D

Start off with amano or cherry shrimps-they are characters-peaceful and easy to keep but with all shrimp your water conditions must be good. And remember - if you keep them with fish in a community, and your fish get sick you may have to treat them separately from the shrimps as they dont take to certain medications especially copper based.

ermmm ok, i have a tank with crystal red shrimps, cherry shrimps, ghost shrimps and amano shrimps most of which are breeding,
i find that with the low bioloads that shrimp produce youll have very little water changes to do with a species only tank, i have a couple of ottos, and occastionally i add some baby bristlenoses but theyve all been moved on.

I have found that i have less nitrates in my shrimp tank that i do in my water supply, so there fore doing a water change actually increases the nitrates my water is also very hard about 7 or so ill do some tests later and add them if you want. di
