My son's test scores for the gov't mandated state assessments came back today.

My 'eaglet'
friends.gif
scored in the Advanced range on both the English/Language Arts and the Mathematics sections!  Pennsylvania changed the test this year, and scores overall are way down... but my little man still scored in the highest group.

While I recognize that a single assessment cannot properly measure learning... this is the system that there is, and the rules that he has to play by.  So proud that he managed to do so well.

So, the family and I are heading out to Olive Garden (his restaurant of choice) for a celebratory meal... and he can even order the extra dipping sauce for the breadsticks!   I am a proud papa!!!

Feel free to add your own proud commentaries about your kids below.

Well done to your son, how old is he? Such great news for any parent for them to excel, do well and be happy

He's 9.  Just entered 4th grade.  This test was administered at the end of 3rd grade.

:good: Excellent on the boy doing good on these tests,  a sense of achievement am sure you feel :)

Always nice to know that your children are progressing as well or better than you hoped for.

Awesome, lovely age :)

Thanks folks but please post your own proud moments, too!  ;)

Well, my boy being only 14 months old, he has done a few things that made me smile, his first word was at 11months, and said 'grandad' pretty impressive first word tbh.

No walking yet but standing while holding on the sofa was a good moment too.

And now he's starting to eat food by himself with a spoon.

Not huge momentous moments like your boy getting impressive test scores, but gotta start somewhere

Oh, nearly forgot, he can do some sign language too, he can do the sign for 'fish'

:good:

All awesome!

No.1 son took his AS levels (age 17), came out with a B, a couple of Cs and a D. We're just working on his University applications at the mo.

No.2 son took two of his GCSEs a year early (age 15), came out with an A and an A* (For context, all kids in his school take one exam a year early, and the able scientists, those that take all 3 sciences individually, take Chemistry a year early) (For the benefit of non-UK members, an A* is something our beloved government came up with to counter criticisms that too many pupils were achieving A grades, and is a higher grade than an A)

Daughter (age 13) has just received a Merit in her Grade 6 clarinet.

No.3 son (age 7) is recovering from a broken arm, not that I'm particularly proud that he broke his arm, but I didn't want to leave him out.

Did he man up when it happened?  Dealing with pain and adversity is often more worthy of admiration and pride than excellence with minimal effort.

Well, yes, he did rather. Both when he did it, and when he had the cast removed, we were told to keep him dosed up with painkillers, but at neither point did he actually require them. He must have a very high pain threshold.
