Hey there

Not sure why your LFS says that you dont need a skimmer for the 1st 6 months, a skimmer removed protein from your tank & protein will be present in your tank from day 1, IMO I would get a decent skimmer going from the day you add your LR

I think the by the 2nd statement your LFS means you will need some form of Bio Filtration, Live Rock is how most reefers do it these days but it can be done using an external filter & filter media (not the best ways IMO)

Rearly you will only need around 15 - 20 kg or LR anyway

Hope that help you out :good: :good:

PS - the Aquamedic Biostar Flotor Skimmer would be a great skimmer for that size of tank

IMO give Prizm's & Seaclones a miss

thanks again chac! i seen the Aquamedic Biostar Flotor Skimmer think i will go with that he was trying to sell me a prizm one even though i said i have no money and was just intrested in the over all cost lol :D
