So I was just looking around on the internet a few days ago as you do :p, and i came across this water changing setup thing (here is the link http://www.instructables.com/id/ProjectAquarius-The-Easy-Aquarium-Water-Change-D/ )
Im going to try this :) it looks pretty good, useful and most of the stuff is pretty easy to get a hold of, just wondering if anybody has done this or going to try it or just generally has any thoughts on it? :)
Thanks,

from that video i failed to notice what they were selling as such. The only technically usefull thing from that i thought was the water pump to pump water back in, that i may try and get. The jerry cans are a waste of money in my opinion, unless you can get bigger ones. I used a big bucket that i have left over from when i bought a big bucket of plant gravel few years ago, much bigger and easier than jerry cans.

What use is a 10L jerry can when i have a 180L that i require 30-40% every week because of my fish. Thats alot of work with a 10L jerry can :p

The jerry cans i agree are much less usefull that some of the other parts of it, but i have a 230l tank atm, and i would be getting 25l jerry cans (if i got them) which is just a bit more that 10%, which is what im doing my water changes with atm, may change my mind with it but it doesnt seem like a BAD idea

and if I ever have to do more than 10% then I could revert to the buckets I use for my larger water changes.

Thats all you really need for easy water changes :) No its not a bad idea, it just seems like they are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill by enacting water cahnges being especially dificult or taxing. Suggesting there idea is ground breaking and your money would be well spent on some poxy 10L jerry cans. I just think the message wasnt very well put together and what they are recommending needs some adjustments to make it worthwhile. As i said, the hand pump is brilliant. I can't believe i've never thought about it. I've just bought a hand pump for syphoning fuel out of cars into buckets for £3.57 + £2.99 PP :) Bargain!

Im glad it helped in some way with the hand pump :good: and I really do agree with you on that, although my water source is pretty far away from the tank so the trolley would be pretty useful for me, which... doesnt really fit buckets (and if buckets did get in there they would easily spill) :(, if there was a way to get around that problem then scrap the jerry cans :p

I suppose i was taking for granted the fact that my water changes, whether it be my main tank downstairs or my planted one upstairs, take only a 3-4 metre walk from tank to sink. Although downstairs i use my garden hose to fill up my tank, and upstairs i fill the bucket with the shower head :p
