Hi.Well,we just had the first frost last night, and of course the pond froze over.
Thats not so bad,but the pump stopped working too.(luckily i had the pump connected to the mains via a circuit breaker which "tripped" and cut the power supply off).
You see,im using an above ground, gravity fed filter and it quite simply froze :/
Ive seen a "Profi"pond heater for sale on ebay, and im wondering if anyone else uses a similar heater to this (i understand it operates "in-line" between the pump and the filter)
Would this stop the filter from freezing up?
Our lowest night time temperature drops to no more than about -4.
Many thanks

theres not much point really I dont think of having a heater because you got and powerbreaker anyway thats okay and I just leave mine alone when my pond freezes over
Thanks willtang....its just that i wont be able to run pump/filter anymore this winter incase it freezes again.......its all switched off now

My dad just leaves it frozen over too, the pond dies mainly in the water, so you might not need the pump running.
