Hi, i have two Spotted Raphael catfish that are in a Greek coliseum that i can't reach in to get them out. I'm sort of worried because i know they are nocturnal and even at night i never see them out. I am trying to take the coliseum out and put in a large piece of driftwood instead. Anyone that are familiar with species or any other catfish that hide a lot please reply on how to get these fish out.

Raphael catfish are notorious for hiding for months and months on end. And catfish in general don't like to be pulled out of hiding. I've had catfish follow decor up to the top of the tank when I'm trying to pull it out for cleaning.

If you're really worried they're stuck, the most you can do is CAREFULLY cut the decor open. not much you can do, otherwise.

You could remove the decor with the catfish and place it in another shallow container of tank water, keep it covered and dark and keep checking if it's out - at least that way you can grab the ornament quickly without disturbing the tank again.

It'll come out eventually. Cutting would be a tricky last resort.

take the deco out with the fish attached and poke it in the face until its had enough of you and it will drop out. poke poke poke
