i posted a little while ago about my betta tank killing off two fish, now im wondering what sort of porducts i can use to treat the water, like sort of sanitise it. when i sitll have a snail and a java fern in the water, i would really like to get a black orchid ct but if im gonnna do that i have to kno for sure that the water is ok. any help would be appreciated, im still alittle new at this. trying to expand (or start rather) the collection u kno?

Why not try a 100% water change? The snail and plant can certainly adapt to a newly changed tank. I say this would be the best way to "sanitize" the tank. Pour all the water out, scrubb it out with hot water, perhaps boil the gravel, rinse the plant and relocate the snail and plant into the new water. That should work, no?

I'm with Elise...scrub the tank down REAALLLYY good, rinse the plant off REAALLLYY good and boil the gravel, add some dechlorinator and you're good to go. If your really worried about contamination maybe add a little Aquarisol or Bettamax to the water as a little bit of peace of mind.
