Hi guys and gals, Im in the UK and if you are too you will know there have been a couple of really hot spells last week.

Since then our pond which is about 20ft long and about 8ft wide, seems to have gone alllll quiet. All the fish are acting very lazy, there is a group which consists of a couple of shubunkin, an orfe a couple of goldfish and some ghost koi who just seem to all sit in a corner at the bottom of the tank, then there is a couple of goldfish who look dead just sitting at the other end under the flow of the waterfall.

amongst them there are a few fish who are still just swimming as normal.

The fish range from about 7" to about 20" and have been perfectly healthy all over winter and up to now.

could anyone explain why all the fish are acting very lethargic???

Thanks for any help

Paul

are you sure they arent just sunbathing? are they all sitting at the bottom or the top of the water?

some are at the bottom and some are at the top, there isnt any sun thats the problem

Well, if they aren't gasping, then lack of O2 probably isnt an issue, do they have anywhere to hide? any lillies to group under etc? perhaps they are feeling vulnerable if there are any cats/herons etc. around...?

Your pond sounds good, and fairly lightly stocked, other than the waterfall, is there any other airation?

A good way to check on them, is to go grab a small earthworm or three, and see if they show any interest.
