I have 2 frogs, who are about 10 months that I raised from
tadpoles in my classroom. Yesterday I noticed that the
larger one had a problem in her stomach. It was lumpy and
protruding on one side. It seemed to even out a little last
night, but then today it's lumpy on one side only. I think
maybe she ate some of the rocks that were in her tank. I
emptied all the rocks out today and called a vet. He said
if she ate rocks there is nothing he can do. I called a
company who breeds these frogs and they said I should just
wait and see if they pass. I gave her beef stew cut up
today, hoping that this might help her digest it. Nothing
has changed yet. She does not seem to be in any distress,
but it can't be comfortable. I just wondered if any of you
might have any experience with this. I am going to try to
post a picture of her and you will see what I mean. I know
that these frogs can get something called bloat where they
bloat up like a latex glove filled with air, but she
doesn't look like that. Her name is Pickles and if anyone
can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, Jenny

I wanted to add that she is eating normally and defecating A LOT. I actually saw her defecate today so I am assuming that her stomach in working normally.

My African Clawed Frog had the exact same problem, and I too thought she had swallowed a rock and called a veteranarian. But after contacting the breeder where I purchased her, I found out that it was a blockage in her intestines. If this ever happens again, 1/4 water changes a day and fasting her for 3 days will almost always cure the problem.
