View attachment 57669Hi folks, outstanding site here. I've sampled a couple of the others, lurked on all of them and believe this to be the most comprehensive and informative FISH site on the net.

I'm pretty new to the hobby having started with a 29g community tank last year. It has done very well, is lightly planted (alongside some plastic) and populated by Mollies, Platies, Scissortail Rasboras and a Blue Neon Dwarf Gourami. Half a dozen surviving Molly fry (inevitable) are growing in a 10g. Females have been given to LFS for re-homing.

I recently picked up a 65g and nice stand. I made the mistake of buying it in near dark conditions at dusk in a poorly lit garage. Getting it home, I find many scratches at the water line - mainly left side near the back and the very back. Far more than I'm comfortable with. Paid $120 for tank, nice wooden cabinet/stand a well-used HOB filter, media, blah, blah.

I've picked up a new Eheim 2215, new media, plants, a great piece of African driftwood and am now getting cold feet on this tank. I have found another 65g setup, nearly identical. Guy wants $90 for the entire setup (tank and stand) or $70 just for the tank. I think I should go for it - I'll never be happy with this one and will always SEE those scratches.

Would I be crazy to buy the 2nd, or is this something other similarly afflicted fish hobbyists would do?

I have recaulked and meticulously scrubbed the "scratched" tank. Is it sellable with these scratches? I feel pretty dumb for having taken it myself.

I've attached a shot of what (both) setups look like. This one is mine (the scratched one before cleanup)

Just wondering.

Thanks for any comments on the subject. (I think I know what I'm going to do regardless).

Best,

Darrell
