 hi all im new to this, but i have had my pleco now for nearly 4 years, when i first rescued him from a friend he was a mere 2.5 inches long, now he is a monsterous 14.5 inches roughly.....my dilema is i need to sell him as my tank can no longer accomadate him, and due to this he has caused himself some injuries..... i was wondering if anyone could advise me where to sell him. ? i think he is a common pleco, but my local pet shop dont know if he is anything special. he doesnt look the same as my much smaller common plec who is only 3.5 inches and i have had him for just over a year now. my big pleco is in reasonably good condition except for a rose patch to his right check, i think he did this on the bog wood?. please help i really dont know what to do with him ...

without a pic its hard 2 try id .....if he's that big stands a chance he a common or a gibby there not really worth anythink due 2 the size they get and ppl are off put because of this most LFS's dont give the info about them getting to 18 inches easily and very fast, hence y so many eventually have 2 get rid of them. 2 try sell u could always place an add in the buy/sell/swap section of this forum or try ur luck at ebay or even try taking it 2 ur LFS they may give u money but more likely give u store credit:)

just curious 2 wot size tank u have them in? becuse ur other common if u had him over a year he should be much bigger than 3 & half inches..

yeah try taking him to your lfs and swap him for credit what worrys me is you say you have a common plec thats 3.5 inches but do you know how big these grow you might find yourself in the same situation in a year or twos time if you dont have a big tank just summat to think about
good luck with the rehoming
regards scot :good:

my tank is 3ft and he has always been in it... but my little one doesnt seem to be growing as fast as my bigger one...i dont mind credit for him but would much rather he went to a proper home than a shop as i know he would be much happier.... i will try and get him on the forum and see what happens...
he looks just like a common pleco but his dorsal finn is extremly large and his markings are much darker than the little one...

I took my common plec to my lfs on saturday along with alot of other fish, after trying to sell him for about 2 months over the internet with no success I had no other choice, so I took him down and instantly somebody that worked there wanted him for there 4 and a half foot tank lol, I was surprised needless to say.I would take him down and if nobody has claimed in in a week just take him back and rehome him yourself.
