So i finally changed to an external filter on my 120L just under a week ago, I got the ehiem classic
However I have a few (really daft) questions-

1) I find it fairly noisy still compared to the Fluval U3 and U4 I had before. Is there any way to quiet it down or is this normal? I find that if i put something with a bit of weight on top it quietens down (I'm using a pot of salt) but is there anything else?

2)I need to give them a water change so how do I do that with the external- do I just pull out the plug while I'm doing it them plug it back in once I'm done?

3)there are 4 valves on it, 2 on the output pipe and two on the input...what do the do? I tried turning one and it just made a horrid noise

4) does it matter where the outflow pipe and the pipe that sucks water is in relation to each other? like do they have to be opposite each other or anything?

5) and is there anything I'm likly to have missed but would be good to know?

Sorry for the really daft questions but simple things confuse me ;p Thank you for any help you can give

and I'd just like to point out one thing.. It needs resizing- the stupid thing was about 2cm too tall to fit in the cupboard and I had to take my shelf out! but yes thankyou for any help you can give

Give it a shake might have some air trapped in it but some are little noisy if its really bad check the imprella make sure it's seated right

Yes Just turn it off then back on when done

These are to shut the water flow off use these when you want to clean or maintain the filter.helps to siphon the water when you put it back together no need to shut these off when it's running

Its best if they are opposite each other IMO pushes the water around the tank better

Not that I can think of good luck!
