this is probably a very stupid thing to ask, and i did a search but it didn't come up with what i was looking for, but i think people here will be able to answer, i'm pretty much 95% sure

how do you tell the gender of the fish? i always just assumed mine were male

It's called an oviposter; it's what she uses to drop her eggs. It's the surest way of telling the difference, since females can occasionally be long finned and of course male plakats can often resemble females.

lol egg tube means pretty much the same- oviposter is just taken from the Latin (ovum=egg)
