i belvie neons are hard to breed, ut half of mine have gone relll fat but seem fine a couple of people have sugested that they could be pregnant, any way i can tell if they are an if so what do i do?????

The normal state of female characins is to be decidedly plump. The Neon is certainly a more challenging fish to breed because it requires such very soft and unstable water for any success. They do scatter a few eggs from time to time, but without extremely soft water, (like almost no hardness at all), few if any would hatch. The Calcium in the water reacts with the egg shells making it impossible for the fry to break out.

im thinking she might be prgnant she keeps chaseing the other away from there noraml ang out by the hair grass, i assume the eggs will all be eaten tho>??
