hi , new to this , i have a male and two female sunset platties , the females are larger in size im not sure if pregnent as im new to this but just 2nite they have both taken up positionss in the tank and just stay there almost lifless , the male does come to chase them sometimes and its as if they are protecting there place in the tank , they do come out to feed though , could this be that they are about to give brth ??? or is it something to do with tank ? all the other fish are fine.

thanks !

hi, my platy gave birth 2 weeks ago, the night before i noticed her belly was shining whiteish and swollen and i read on the net you can see a black area just under her bottom fin which are supposedly the frys eyes which she also had, then the next day a spotted lots of little babys swimming around some bogwood i have, but to my horror i saw the platys eating them so i got a net and managed to save 2 of them and put them in a little plastic nursery i have they are still ok and surviving. two days ago i spotted another one around the bogwood who has survived all on his own so ive left him, he, still there. good luck, let me know if she has babys.
