So everything in my tank has been going pretty well for a bit. I have 2 platys, (actually 3-one fry), 1 guppy, 4 cardinal tetras and a bristlenose catfish in a 24 litre tank.

Both platys are pregnant and a week or so now I noticed the white spot taht they are supposed to get when they are about to drop-however she still hasn't given birth.

I had this problem with the other platy during her birth and she got rid of them, except the one, no problems. But this one is now clamping her fins. She is still eating and moving occasionally but does not look good. All other fish are fine so I am pretty sure its pregnancy related.

Is it too late to move her into a seperate tank? or will this stress her more. The only fish that may have been giving her problems was the guppy, a male, but it was nothing vicious or anything, mainly just following, which he isnt doing anymore.

PH is neutral and ammonia is 0-not sure of any other tests. Water is about 28 degrees celsius.

I just want to know if there is anyway I can help her, I dont want her to die!

Your tanks overstocked.

Do a water change and increase aeration.
Get water tested at the lfs and ask them to write the readings down for you.
If she stressed she will hold off giving birth.

This is the fish we were told to get at two different lfs-both who are very qualified and know their stuff.

I know she is stressed, I am asking if there is anyway to help her with the pregnancy at all, or if I can move her to a separate tank or something-will that stress her more?

You need to get your water tested as bad water quality is the first thing to rule out.
