|Pregnant Platy & Guppie ?

Im almost sure my Platy is going to drop pretty soon and my Guppie looks preg too I will attatch some photos can anyone confirm if they are and how much longer it look like till they drop if they are please

The platy isn't looking particularly squared-off yet, so probably a few more days to a week.

The guppy isn't looking spectacularly fat, so a fair while yet with her, if indeed she is pregnant. In the photo of the guppy, is that yellowish blur to her left a male guppy? If so, then unless there is something wrong with her internals, she is pregnant.

The platy might be a few days to a week away, the guppy looks like she has at least two weeks to go.

Yes the yellow blur is a male guppie im just a bit unsure as i found 6 fry in my tank 6 days a go and posted some pictures on here of them as i wasnt sure what fish had them and people think they are mollie fry so i dont think my guppie droped them but it was a month a go this time i got the guppies and put female in with the male sooooo im a bit confused.com lol

You got the guppies a month ago? Either they're VERY slow off the mark, or you've missed a fry-drop from her.

The rule of thumb with livebearers is male+female+water=babies. No further intervention needed. The females will store sperm for up to 6 months since her last, er, shall we say "encounter" with a male, and they drop fry every 4 weeks or so.

Could be, but I'm not an expert of fry identification, so I can't help you on that one.

That was my first thought aswell but like the lock man I'm no expert on identification, only had guppies breeding in my tank so have a sort of idea, not had mollies or breed them. Congrats on the fry though and the fact there still alive, wait until you see your fish giving birth while your watching, as with the fish you have and how often they pop them out you'll have a great chance if seeing it.

Hummmm,,,,,, My platy dosnt seam to look as fat thismorning and it looks like her gravid spots shrunk bu i dont see any fry in my tank.
My preg Guppie looks twice as fat thismorning too..... Has my greedy guppie munched all the platy fry

Could easily be the platy as well.

The same thing used to happen to me, when I kept platies - I never even once saw a platy fry.

Aww thats a shame maybe next time she looks like she did i should move her in to the birthing thing i have, i just didnt want to stress her out, my guppie cant be looking so fat from just eating lots of fry can she ? lol, Maybe thats her squearing off and nearly ready to drop

It might be.

There's a lot of debate as to whether birthing traps and nets are a good idea or not. I've never used one, because I don't want to be overrun with fry, so I let them take their chances.

In an aquarium with plenty of plant cover, particularly java moss, you will see some fry survive, they're pretty good at hiding. My tank wasn't well planted, only a few vallis.
