pregnant platty?

my platty is looking fat and the bottom of her stomach is turning silver, it kindof looks like its streching, also i can notice a faint black spot behing her bum.
does this mean she is pregnant?

Do you have a male? If not..them someone needs to explain something to you!
What other fish do you have in the tank?

Hope your getting on OK. I also have a pregnant Platty and to be quite honest I am rather worried about her . I think she is near her due date as I first noticed her gravid spot was growing around 3 1/2 weeks ago. As I had a bad exprerience with my pregnant Guppie I decided to buy and prepare a new tank which I could use for birthing! A few days ago I moved my platty into the new tank and everything is ok except for the fact that she is swimming around the tank like a mad thing, I think she is missing the other fish and is trying to find them. As I am new to fish keping I am not sure if this is a normal way of behaviour or just that my fish is not doing to good, I just hope she isn't getting stressed out. Anyhow as I am also new to fish keeping I find this site very helpful as many of the other members have loads of good advice, so hang in there with your pregnant platty and hopefully soon we will both have babies!!!! That would be just fab!!
