Hi

I have 2 pregnant platies but im not sure when they are due but they are incredable huge and i have noticed that on the 1 platy she has a white creamy appearance around her anus, somewhere i read that this is a good indication that she will deliver soon, but so far she hasn't dropped.

Awwww bless she is like a balloon (she's a redwag platy) by the way so its hard to tell her gravid spot, i would try and post a pic but im confused by what to do.

Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers peeps

Hi
you can tell if your platy is pregnant because each side of her stomach gets widder more than it hangs down wards.
If you still dont no tey putting a few floating plants at the top of the tank so at least some fry will survive because they are orange they are more noticed unless your one is a different colour.
also get a breeding net not trap and once she has gave birth catch as many as you can.
Hope this help.

hi bigfish
there was a post about this before an di have noticed it on my pregnant platy and many others have and did answer to a prevoius post of someones... no one really found out abot it mabe it some sort of visual sign to the males that she pregnant god only knows!!!! :p ...... but i dont htink its a diease

hi my platy just gave birth 2 days ago you really cant tell when they will give but they will hold on to thier pregnancy if conditions are not right such as uncycled water and harmful preditors. put her in a breeding net or a seperate tank. no gravel in the tank because babys will get stuck!!!! oh once they are born dont freak out like i did just go to the store buy newborn food called firstbites you can get it at pet co for 3 dollars once the mom has givin birth take her out cause she will eat the babys well thats all the info i can give you good luck!!!
