Hi all

I am posting as I am pretty sure my large femail Pakistani loach is pregnant as she is much much rounder in the stomach than her tankmate, and also has grown quite a bulge in the past few weeks she never had before.

I have read somewhere that it is quite rare for this to occur, but if it has, please could somebody tell me the best way of successfully gaining babies??

Maybe she is just fat, but it seems a little weird as all week I have fed them not very much in case she was constipated... the other male loach is very thin but she is hugenormous!

definately not pregnant, she may be gravid (carrying eggs) could you get a picture up? what do you feed and how often?

Will try and get a photo up later but I am pretty sure she IS carrying egges... whether or not they will be fertilised etc i do not know about.

I think I'm going to disappoint you a little here.

It is not uncommon for Yoyo females (and ditto for other Loach species) to become gravid in aquariums.

However, spawning's are very rare for most of loach species, and for Botia's, including Yoyo's, there are no documented instances.

Your fish probably still will be happier if you have a male around, but do not expect babies.
