Hey, i'm new, and i've got 6 neon tetra. one of them has a gap in the stripe going down the body, and i dont know whats wrong?

I have isolated it in a breeding chamber, as a friend suggested that it may be pregnant?

Is it?

I have issolated it because i have other fish that may, will probably eat the eggs or fry if the fish really is pregnant.

Thanks for listening,

richard_mincher

sorry i should hav given more detail;

I meant there is a gap in the neon line, there is a gap in the middle of the line where there is nothing, it looks a bit like it may be eggs,but it is hard to tell. People hav told me it may be pregnant and or it may have an illness?

Thanks again.

I don't no what you mean by a gap, can you explain more, what is the ph and water stats in the tank.

Good that you have issolated the fish to be on the safe side, has the colour completely bleached out in the gap, keep an eye on the stripe,can we look at your water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph, as bad water quality can make them go pale, also it will tell me if she is preganant by the ph.

Tetras are egglayers, meaning that she may be GRAVID, but she can't be pregnant. Eggs are fertilized outside the body, and not carried by the female (or the male, for that matter).
