Don't be too optimistic. Gravid kuhli females are very common, in fact any kuhli female kept in good conditions will be gravid in a few months. But spawns are very rare, and even if one tries to create the ideal conditions for the fish, it may be years before it happens.

If you really want to try this, the following may help:

1. Ensure you have males of the same species (striped kuhlis are more than one species).
2. Provide some current.
3. Provide some low-growing plants.
4. Remove fish that may bother kuhlis.
5. Wait for a few years.

Incidentally, gravid is the correct word, not pregnant. The eggs in the female are not fertilized, they still need the male's attention, and with kuhlis it is not something that is forthcoming.
