Pregnant Guppy Giving Birth

my female guppy is giving birth and im all new to this and just woundering whats the rights and wrongs to do. I noticed this morning and placed her straight in the breeding tank, every now and again she gives birth and has been doing so all day, in total i have 3 alive fish and lost count on how many she ate before falling in the bottom. How long will she be doing this for and how many babies do they have, she seems now to be passing all the dead babies. Whats the upkeep on the guppie fry`s? any help would be apreciated.

Why would you let her eat her babies??? I don't care what anyone says about interfearing ( spelling??) with a fish in labor.. I would NEVER let my fish eat her babies.. ever.

umm what would make you say that? Eating babies is natural for some fish. As is taking care of babies for others.

Although theroeticly the babies should go to the bottom bit of the trap they don't all do that grrrrrr. I've got one giving birth today and what i'm doing is taking out the ones at the top and puting into a breeding net so they are safe with lots of plants in. think i'm up to about 20 babies so far, hard to count them. who said any thing about me letting her eat her babies I HAD NO CHOICE she was put in the breeding trap and she was eating them before they were dropping to the bottom, well some how the 3 alive had managed to escape and now i have none. im a little disopointed as i know my first go at breeding may not be 100% successful but i thought id at least have 1 fry. Dont care much for breeding tanks now so may invest in a breeding net. She still looks preg tho.
