pregnant Fish

I was wondering if anyone knows how you can tell if a platy is pregnant, I bought her about 2 weeks ago but she has got quite a belly on her compared to the others.I dont know wether she is just a good eater or is preggers.

If its a platy and its a female.... i'd take atleast 50/50 odds shes pregnant. Pretty much the only way she's not pregnant is if she isn't mature enough and/or if she's never been around a mature male.

Do a search with the words "platy" and "gravid" in it and you'll probably find some pics of a pregnant platy that has a gravid spot (a tell tale sign she's pregnant) then compare with your fish. Although I can't remember if there is a possibility of a pregnancy withouta gravid spot. Anyway good luck.

Of course the odds are 50/50...she is either pregnant or she is not!!

Well, there sort of is. If your Platy is a darker color, chances are you won't see the Gravid spot. Sometimes they are hard to see on Bright colors too. I have 2 Bright Orange Platies, and I have never seen a gravid spot!
