Praecox (dwarf Neon) Rainbows

I'm soon (in the next few weeks) to be taking my last remaining danios back to LFS, and I am planning to get a group of praecox rainbows in their place.....what's the smallest number of rainbows you can keep?
I was aiming to get 5 or 6, also how hardy a fish are they?

Good that's what i like to hear.....getting rid of danios as they pick up too many diseases, etc.
But wanted something similar in size and activity to be the new best friends for my male betta, who adored his danio friends, so I think rainbows should be a nice substitute
