hi there. over a month ago i payed 47 pounds upfron to subscribe to a years worth of pfk magazines. the only reason i signed up was to recieve their free e700 external filter worth £90 which i was garunteed even thouh there was only 100 available. last week i rang up asking how much longer my filter would take and they said give it another week, if i still havent recieved it they will sens another one out ASAP! so today the week is up. i gave them another call and the answer was sorry we dont have any left in stock and WILL be getting some more and i may have to wait 28-50 days but was offered as an alternative 2 years pfk for the price of one which is thier current offer. now dont get me wrong thats a good deal however i have been external filterless for over a month and both my internal filters media needs replacing, this woudnt be so bad if i had the external filter. i rang therm up again and the answer was no sorry you cant have one we will never get any of them again and i was offered a 150watt heater, i mean yeah right i could pick one of those up for £10 eventually even thouh apparently they have a no refund policy i was offered a refund. and before i had a chance to think about it i have been refunded. i still want to read the magazine durhhh! now what. i have to wait 14-28 days to get a refund. i dont have the money to go buy an external filter and replace my internal filters media. pfk have left me in a horrible situation and for that reason im left with no choice but to start this topic. if anyone else has experienced any false promises or bad customer services, please share your story!

And the moral of this story is: don't believe everything you read (or read the small print)!

When there are only 100 available it'll be first come, first served with no guarantee of receiving one.

Unless you've got it in writing that you will receive a filter no matter what you haven't a leg to stand on. :X

I did look at this deal myself and although I can't remember what exactly warned me off I was in no doubt that a filter was not guaranteed.

Just out of curiosity, why does your filter media need replacing?!

i know but last week i was told they had all bee sent out and i was on the list! even though ive rung up 3 times it still isnt clear if thats a lie or it was lost in the post and because there was only 100 i cant get another one.

because i have active carbon pads that are no longer active and too old to do any good. infact when they get too old they actually release all the crap they have filtered out eventually.

Call centre staff just follow protocol given by a higher authority
yeah true but a verball promise is as good as a contract and if they verbally said i would recieve a filter just to recieve my money then that is breaking the law. thats like saying if you pay us 47 pounds we will give you 2 years for the price of one. then after a year they dont give it to you. thats against the law!

anyway never again am i going to buy their magazine. i mean how hard was it just to give me a filter that was promised to me?

Any reason not to remove said carbon & replace it with another type of media?

aaaaand closed. This sort of ranting at companies can open this forum up to legal proceedings, something that we simply can't risk.
