I have heard and seen alot about this and was thinking of getting a sub for it just wanted to know what people think of it on here, is it any good worth the money etc?

Its a great magazine, certainly the best fish one out there and with interesting articals. Was great to have for quiet days at work and could take me a month to read properly! I skim through, then go back through most interesting bits... then back through for articals and so on...

That said.. their price has been going up and up and up and up and now at nearly £5...(£4.80 i think?) i think they are taking the mickey a bit.... especially when pretty much all the information is on their website anyway..

If you are going to get mag, definately subscribe to make it a bit cheaper.

+1 ^^ love this magazine! had a subscription now for about a year and a half and been reading it for a while before that too.

Like MBOU, I tend to read all the bits that interest me, then go back and read other stuff I flicked by initially and before you know it, its been read cover to cover!

Great for night shifts at work and for tricky.......... toileting

My wife has even been reading it from time to time!?! I can always tell when she has, she'll start talking about "dither fish" and such like.
In fact, just the other day she asked me why the hillstream loach wasnt a L-number plec, because it looks like one, has the same "sucky mouth thing" as a plec, but its actually a loach?

Anyway..... great magazine! Get your subscription. Always a nice we suprise when it gets delivered.

This magazine is great! So worth it! Shame about the cost, but to be honest, all magazines seem to cost that much anyway :)

Every month they have a subscription offer where you get a freebie of some sort for subscribing. Some months the freebie is significantly better than others, so hang on until something catches your eye.

I subscribed and got a year free, but I hardly ever have time to read it now >_<

I renewed my subscription when they were giving away that cool small external filter. I thought it was a great start to either starting a new we project or just for extra flow in my existing tank. But months had passed and still no filter. I phoned them numerous times and got papped off with some rubbish story it was on the way... Were looking into it.... We've ordered an other 1 in for you etc etc....
Then they finally admitted they had none and they would send me the internal fluval 1 instead.

Then I had a parcel.... Kit to grow your own brine shrimp for feeding your fish fry. Red handy..... My collection of big cichlids will LOVE that..... not.

Great magazine though :)

It's pretty costly for those of us in America. I get Amazonas.

The above mentioned is a great mag...with only 2 flaws IMHO... it costs too much for too much marine chat. I would love a magazine of such input, effort and colour purely on freshwater alone, alas, i cannot find one.

Terry.

I get CORAL for marine and Amazonas for freshwater. There's no marine info in Amazonas so far though I haven't seen every issue I missed a couple before I subscribed.

Yes there is quote a lot of marine sections in pfk. Some months it gets pretty annoying.... some months it makes me want a marine tank. But but mostly annoying

Oh...I was talking about Amazonas. That's totally Freshwater...good mag and for those of us in the US much much more affordable than PFK. I do subscribe to PFK's email info from their web site. That's yielded some good info over the years.

I managed to win a years free subscription once, which was great, but yes, the amount of marine info I never used to read. Then it just got a bit too expensive to just read half a magazine. Very informative though.
