Powerheads

Ok just about to order my powerheads. I am going to buy them from allpondsolutions. I can't decide whether to get 2x3000lph or 2x5000lph. Would the 2 5000lph be too much? the tank is 6ftx18x18.

Imo i'd Get 2 x 5000lph. Better to have too much than not enough.
If it's too much you could always aim them at the surface or against the wall too reduce the flow in the tank as that's what I've had to do.

ideal flow of 30x would be 9540lph

So 2 x 5000s

Not a fan of Sunsun myself but they are much cheaper than Tunze not sure if heads are better or not I guess its like having 4 3000s in a 6ft tank you might be better with 2 x 5000s and a 3000 to make sure you have flow all the way around the tank

If I had 3 is it stupid to have them on the same end of the tank? I might get 2 of the 6000 and if I have problems I have no problem adding more. I have heard people have the sunsuns and think they are great. In all honesty I can't afford any of the more expensive ones! £50 is all I have atm for a powerhead due to having someone spend money in mt account and waiting to have it refunded!

Just found this post not been on here much this weekend very busy. I have a Newave 5500 and one of the Sun sun twin head 6000lph ones on my 60x24x24 and to be honest I don't think it's enough I'm looking at more. At the moment I also have a nano 1000lph head in there just to give some surface movement and I have my spare Newjet 1200 pump in there to help out. Seeing a load of dead spots and patches of discoloured sand so having a re think on powerheads.

Wow sounds like a lot! I was going to go ahead with the 2 6000lph I thought it might be enough. My return is going to be going to by a spray bar in the centre of the tank. I think I will get the 2 for now and if I need more get them then. My problem is I only have £50 right now in my bank due to the idiot who hacked my xbox account taking over £100 odd!!! How can you tell if there are dead spots? The only way I tell in my planted tank is by the plants staying still lol!

I can do but try, at least I can then save up for some better ones!

They are the same things right? sunsun make?Just incredibly cheaper than on aps!!! haha! If someone can confirm it would be ok to buy these it would save a bit and I can get 4 of them lol!
