i've seen them advertised but does anyone know the exact reason what they're for?

anyone own one?

how do they benefit the tank? fish? or plants?

thanks for any help

They can be used on FW for powering an under gravel filter. they also provide more movement of the water, not good for plants but useful for fish that prefer more fast flowing waters.

They are more often encountered in marine tanks which require anything from 20 to 50 times the tanks volume to be turned over per hour.

Hi, I have one as my plecos love the fast flowing water. I have a simple filter attachement on mine which helps with particulate waste.

Hi!

I also have a Power head that works really well.

Use it with my UGF.

It will harm the plants if its pumping out water right onto a plant but you get a nozzle with that you can ajust to spray away from them.

Fish love the moving of the water and the power head keeps the waste on the gravel for easy cleaning.

Hoped this helped!!

Cheers
