I am having a problem with BGA in my fairly new tank set up. Fish are really great but the BGA is showing signs of returning after a three day blackout!

One suggestion from the planted section was to possibly add a powerhead to improve water circulation. As the tank has an in the hood system I'm just wondering what powerheads other AuaOne users have installed or whether you have not found it necessary to add one at all?

I am adding Liquid EasyLife Carbo, Nitro and ProFito as advised by the members on the planted section.

Would just like to hear from other other AquaOne owners.

Thanks for any replies in advance.

I've been considering a koralia one too. What kind of circulation pattern do you recommend when you add one of these to a tank? For instance, in my case the eheim intake is in the right rear bottom corner but the spraybar output is across the top back, sending water across the surface to the front of the tank where its concentrated a bit by the bowfront and goes shooting down to the bottom middle, then I assume makes its way across the gravel with some of it going back to the intake. I keep wondering whether to cut my spraybar shorter so it could be positioned on the left or right side, but then I also wonder about combos with a koralia.

Annie, what's your water flow pattern?

Flow pattern Waterdrop? :/

I can only assume it is very much like yours, as (looking at the tank) the intake is left bottom rear corner, with the spray bar output at the back top, directing the flow towards the front of the tank. That's about as much as I can say really, sorry!

I've been looking at the Hydor Koralia tonight on line and I'm not sure what size I would need as my tank is fairly small 65L.

The Koralia Nano has a flow rate of 900, the Koralia 1 flow rate is 1500. Any ideas as to the most suitable flow rate that won't make the fish feel they are swimming up stream all day and getting nowhere!

Thanks for your help Truck and WD much appreciated as always. :good:

Oh, I didn't know there was a nano, I thought the koralia one was the smallest one. The ones I was interested in were the ones that "fan out the water" and I wonder if the nano does that ???

Also I wonder if the koralia powerheads are the type where the electric wire and motor are *outside* the tank and the fan is forced to spin by inducing the rotation through the tank glass? Is that the case?

Up until you mentioned the nano, I had no hesitation thinking I wouldn't go any bigger than the koralia one on my 106L/28G.

Sheesh, if I end up getting one of these I will know truck, Dave, Aaron and AC have gotten in to my head...

I have a koralia 2 on my 125 ltr tank,

Just to answer waterdrop's question, the whole unit, including wire goes in the tank, the only thing outside the tank is the other half of the magnet to hold it in place.

The nano is designed for mini or nano tanks, around 35 - 50 ltr so that may not be big enough.

The koralia's actually give quite a gentle flow so I wouldn't be too worried about blowing your fish away lol

I'd defo go for the koralia 1 or 2, I got mine from charterhouse-aquatics, the koralia 2 was £29.95, nearly £10 cheaper than many other places

Will be ordering mine over the weekend. Think I will go for the Koralia 1 and will be ordering from charterhouse - aquatics as the price is good just hope it solves the algae problem. Thanks alot Andy for your advice. :good:
