Hi all,
having a bit of a panic as the electricity supply is going to be switched off next thursday for over head repairs.
It will be off for about 8 hrs.
I have ordered a battery powered air pump. what else can i do other tham wrap the tank up to try and keep it from getting too cold etc.
I don't have a generator will the pump be enough to stop the filter media from dying?

it should be fine with a battery operated airstone and wrapping the tank up in a blanket.
Good Luck.

Had the same fear last month with my 4 tanks.

Everything went well though (although I lost 4 white cloud mountain minnows in a week!). Another tip i was told was to agitate the water surface at the top to put some movement in the tank if you don't have a battery operated pump. Once an hour maybe?

You can buy petrol pwered generators for 240V off ebay
you can run uo to like 800W they cost about £80

i think i tank of petrol last for about 4 hours

I did here of putting boiling water into a plastic container or drinks bottle.... then sinking it into the tank to keep the temp up
