Came home this morning to find that the power had failed overnihgt for 12hrs, fish ok, will this do any damage to my friendly bacteria?? Just recently cycled the tank.
Nitrites and ammonia 0.1.
Get ready for a case of ick, it might popup overnight, if your fish are doing ok, then i woldnt worry about it same thing happend to me so i just brought some heat packs for the tanks, now i always have them in stock just in case.
Heat some water on a gas stove and pour it into bottles and place them in the tank. You could also wrap the tank with a blanket to keep it warm. Scoop some water from the tank with a container and pour back in at a bit of a height to get some oxygen into the water. GL
You should be ok unless its really cold where you are. My power went off last summer for almost 24, and everyone was alright. But seeing as it as summer it was pretty hot out.
