:) Hi all, glad to see the forum is back up and running.

I had poated this before but never read all the responses.

I have a 25 gallon soon to be apisto tank. It is well planted.

Can I use a fixture with 2x55w power compact fluorescent or would this bee too much?

What light temperature would be ok?
10000k?
6700k?
Actinic?

TFF- Onward and Upward !!! :hyper:

Hi jjsdad,

As apistos seem to be middle-bottom Amazon River dwellers I wouldn't have thought they like too much light. Most of the profiles seem to indicate densely planted, large rocks with caves, bogwood, etc.

I think 4w per gallon might be a bit high - but I am not a cichlid expert.

You could go with standard daylight white (6700k) tubes or some of the freshwater plant ones which are 50/50 blue/red or freshwater colour ones which are 50/50 white/blue. THis would retain the same wattage but mix it around the spectrum a bit more....

HTH, Eddie
