my gf has been out while im at work and bought a powder blue tang. iv red that these guys are prone 2 white spot. and was woundering wots the best way 2 treat wen it occurs? or if it occurs?. thanks for any help.

Powder blues need a good 100 Gallon preferably 6 foot tanks and are very prone to whitespot it depends on your tank condtions to how bad this will be a small tank will cause a major problem a larger tank less. There are a number of ways to treat it all with varying degrees of successes for diffrent people.

1. Ozone claims to kill the parasites
2. UV kills the parasites if setup correctly

Most people will use both of the above to resolve the problem

Fish can be taken out and hospitalised but can easliy catch it again when added back in the stress of hospitalising the fish can make things worst and rehoming the fish from a hospital tank to main tank could bring it all back anyway.

The best method is to feed the fish good quality food lipsome spray etc.

There is no easy cure just a few diffrent approaches

What will contribute to any issue is Tank size water quaility and what other fish are stocked.

one of the harder fish to keep. they swim a lot, so they need to eat a lot. in teh wild they eat all the time. so you need to provide regular food. this helps keep white spot away. they also live in high flow areas on the reef so lots of flow.

like morri says, if you havent got a 5x2x2 or above, take it back.
