Hi

I am thinking of getting a Powder Blue Tang to go in my reef tank. I have a strawberry fish that tries to attack any new fish that i buy, and as this fish is quite expensive does any one know if I will be safe doing this. Also are they easy to keep? how big will it get and what does it eat.

Any advice very much appriciated.

Best regards

easy? No

tank size? 5ft minimum

they get BIG and FAST and need a tank that can give space

What size tank have you got? Despite Tiggs "easy" answer they aren't *that* hard to keep, but the first step you should take is to make sure that any at your LFS have been fully acclimatised and aren't new arivals, make sure they are feeding and look fairly plump. If they look at all skinny then i wouldn't buy it.

As said they need a lot of room and 100G is generally considered the minimum tank size for this group of tangs. Also remember that they need some kinda vegitation in their diet to keep at their prime. Quite a few frozen food manufacturers do a vegitarian diet which would do just right.

If your tank meets the size requirements and is AT LEAST 6 months old, ideally more then you should be ok. Just do as much research as possible and get as many people's opinions as possible.
