I take the liberty to start a new topic with an extract from my post in another topic on this forum, as I urgently need to bring to your attention to the following:

A main feature of the pets’ section is of course the POTM, which sadly fell behind a little & leaves us with a bit of catching up to do.

Inchworm has started topics where you can post your nominations for September and October 2009, and I prompt you to get your nominations in without delay, as selected from the specific months that the photos were posted by the OP. The rate at which those nominations come in will determine how soon we can start voting and eliminate the backlog and get back on track.

Just an idea but would it be worth (just this once) rolling Oct and Sept into one seeing as we are already near the end of the month and I'm the only one who has put in for Oct's comp. So all nominations for Oct go in to Sept.

Very good suggestion there Barney, but we must remember that August voting is also still outstanding. It will all depend on the frequency of the nominations comming in during the next week or two, so that decision is still pending.

So, in fact... you guys have a lot of hard work ahead to assist us to get back on track. but then, I have a lot of confidence in you regulars, & I know we'll be on schedule in a jiffy.

There are still some adorable pets who haven't been nominated for the October contest yet. It's not too late, so please make your nominations and seconds before the end of the month.

so how does this work? do you post in the non-fishy pets section, and people nominate? then you post in the POTM section?

i'm sure i have seen people put their own nominations in the TOTM section.....

well Haych, from what i have understood.
You make a thread about your pets, then if 2 people nominate you then you add it in to the POTM nominations thread.

so you dont ADD to the existing one? you make a new one? and can you add all pets in the "new thread" (if applicable) or just one?

also, i noticed on TOTM you have to put todays date on, how do you do that with a cat/dog/bird/pig etc?

As far as the nominations, most likely its just going to be 1 pet you can enter a month, you can take how many pics you want of it, then if someone nominates your pet, they or you chose 1 picture to submit.

I wonder if any mods are online atm, so they can clarify.

betta_246's right. All you have to do is post pictures of your pet in one of the threads and someone could nominate it. Then, if you get a second, post the information in the pinned topic for the proper month. This is to help the mods find it when it gets to be time to make up the poll.

If you have a great pet, why not start a thread and tell us all about him or her. The more it stays active, the better your chances are that you will get a successful nomination. There is no need to post the date, etc., but if you are in the contest and we suspect your entry is not your pet or is photoshopped, we might ask you to provide additional pictures to confirm that everything is on the up and up.

While you are visiting the Pets section, if you see someone else's pet that appeals to you, by all means take a minute and nominate or second it. It will make for more interesting and exciting contests.

I've been through numerous posts trying to find additional nominations for at least the August posts.... I currently have only 3 nominations (and would've liked to have at least 10)

The nominations are:

1. MBOU's Bella... (doing topsies)
2. Tropic John's dog Neo.
3. Razor121's cute little kitten. (miracle)

If you know of any others, (for August) please notify me... & also, if you see any posts made in August which you would like to nominate.... Now is the time to do it... August nominations will be finalized at noon on Monday 2 November 2009.... Get your favourites in asap.

Also note, that I need more nominations for October and especially September. Please help us get back on track... Nominate the backlog month entries.
