Thats known as a shrimp being "saddled" so yes technically its pregnant. The next step is when the eggs move down underneath the shrimp and it will be "berried". Are you in the UK by any chance?

hahahha never was the best speller and im located in the U.S.

so how long from there till i have shrimplets?

That depends, is that a mandarin shrimp (orange with red bits, Caradina cf. Propinqua) or an orange shrimp (caridina heteropoda var 'orange') as it is hard to tell from that pic? If it is caridina heteropoda then about 17 days once the eggs drop, if it's cf. Propinqua then never unless you are able to provide a tank with bracksih water to raise the eggs to young. From the shape and look of it I would say that it's a heteropoda, but could be wrong.

im pretty sure its a varient of the red cherry shrimp well thats what i bought them under.

Thought so. Once the eggs have dropped into the pleopods it usually takes heteropoda varieties about 17 days to hatch. Can't tell you how long before the eggs move down however as this is very variable from shrimp to shrimp.

Good luck with them though, I love the other colours of heteropoda (love cherries too).

They eggs will move down when they mate, which should be the next time she moults.

Fingers crossed for you :good:

Are you sure what you have are true yellow 'cherry' shrimp neocaridina??

Cos I have recently purchased some very similar looking shrimp but they are caridina cf. propinqua 'mandarine' shrimp.. and although they will get eggs, they will not successfully have the babies unless you have brackish water to raise them for a stage in....

i bought them off aquabid and they look exactly like pictures i've seen of others so im pretty sure. I guess i'll see with that pregnant shrimp
