Hi all.
Yes, my fish saga continues. I have now lost four (I think) more fish, all from my 10 gallon. A little background info: they were all moved last Saturday. They took a almost-three-hour car trip. They were packed in plastic bags and they and the tanks were moved, then set back up ASAP. I have checked water conditions of the tap water here and everything is WNL and/or close to the params that the fish are used to. The filter is working well. I did a PWC today (20%).
My male Platy is not looking so great. I can put my hand near him in the tank (could pick him up if I wanted to) and he has had stringy/mucousy "poop" today - every time I've looked at him. When I looked at him again tonight and saw that, it triggered something in my head and I realized that perhaps the fish have a parasite. The vet agreed with me, though he doesn't practice much fish medicine so wasn't too sure what to recommend. He thought perhaps malachite green would be a good one to use, but the bottle says not to use on scale-less fish and the majority of my remaining fish are Corys and one Pleco.
I haven't actually seen the fish when they're dead, but the vet has and he says they look really slimy/fuzzy when he pulls them. They weren't dead more than 12 or so hours when he pulled 'em out.
The vet's been feeding 'em for me when I'm not here. He's owned fish for twenty years and knows what he's doing. He agreed that it could be a parasite of some sort but isn't sure what medicine to suggest.
Any one have any suggestions/ideas? Oh, temp in the tank is about 75*.
Thanks!
