Is this Blackbeard algae I see on my pothos root? If so, will I have to remove it? I’ll be a little annoyed if I do because it’s the one with the biggest roots out of the three.

Light exposure for pothos roots in an aquarium is not a major concern, Although not as sensitive as some other plants.

Very strong light can promote algae growth on the roots, which can look unsightly and compete with the pothos for nutrients.

If you can shade the roots from getting too much light, it could help.

Unless you like the look of BBA, remove as soon as you see it. It is hard to get rid of once it sets up residency. Fighting it in my 20L right now with some hair algae. My shrimp are useless, lol.
