If you read these forums often you may have read my post last week about my cloudy tank and my fish rapidly reducing in number. :-( http://fish.orbust.net/forums/index.php?sh...showtopic=35461

You'll be pleased to know that I haven't lost any more fish since last Monday and my water conditions seem fine. Nitrates 10, Nitrirte & Ammonia 0, temp 25.5.

I have been struggling with the cloudy water and have experienced a couple of clear days followed by a slight haze at which when noticed I have changed the water. I am hoping that this will sough itself out when the bacteria is settled. I have noticed that the filter floss has become slimey when I've noticed the water going cloudy again.

However, I have noticed this morning that one of my male Gourami's has a small graze on his face just by his mout that seem almost silverish and looks a little sore. I noticed he was staying at the top of the tank last night, not gasping, but just keeping out of the way of the other fish. Unfortunately due to the deaths last week I now have two males and a female and I have noticed the males sparing with each other on a couple of occassions :( and they both tend to keep to their own sides of the tanks now. I plan to separate these fish but the new tank I have bought is very early in the cycle stage. My hospital tank is currently occupied by fry.

All other fish seem fine except for one of the Zebra Danio's that keeps having spates of scratching himself of the shipwreck in the tank and the female Gourami who's *number two's* :X seem like cotton and are all stringy.

Do I have some kind of Bacteria infection in the tank? If so how should I treat it, considering I have a plec? I did a routine 20% last night and I haven't yet removed the carbon I put into the filter after trying to remove the finrot medicine I dosed the tank with in light to the sick Angel fish.

Well if you see that your fish has a cotton-like substance on him it may very well be a fungus. Does the zebra have any white spots on it, or does he also have fungus on him?

If thats true, then you might want to go to your lps and get some medications to stop it before it spreads to the others.

None of the fish have any cotton like substances on them.

The gourami's mouth looks more like a sore and I can't see anything wrong with the Zebra at all. The female gourami's Faeces are cotton like, very stringy.

All fish are eating well and since I cut their rations back when I had the problems with the water even beg for food when you come into the room. It's possible that the gourami may have grazed his face while he's be lurking around in the substrate for left over bits of food as he seems permanently hungry.

Should I use a course of Melafix or is this an incorrect treatment?

Hi Guys,

I'm really worried about the Gourami now as his sore seems to be swelling and he is hiding away from the other fish.

Can anybody give me any advice on what to treat him with? I'm worried if I use the wrong stuff I'll make him worse.

Thanks in advance.

hmm. Go to your lps and see what they also recomment. If it is a sore then you can try melafix but you might also need a better thing for a type of antibiotic
