I've been keeping FW fish for about a year, and am considering the possibility of going marine. I have a Juwel Rio 180 which i could swap and a spare Eheim 2224 filter I could use.

Can you tell me if this sized tank and the filter would be suitable, and what other equipment i would need?

Money is also an issue, so it would probably have to be FOWLR as I can't afford the lights for corals.

Any guidance much appreciated!!!

A friend of mine has exactly the same tank (Rio 180).

Its simply a tank, no external filter, liverock, juwel internal filter but with no sponges or brickettes, prizm skimmer and standar juwel lights.

They keep many soft corals successfully in these condtions, xenia, Clavularia sp, devils fings, sarcophyton, and zoos etc.

Hi Sarah
Have a look at THIS
thread I have posted a load of info on lightin, skimmers, powerheads, LR Etc.

I have alos added link for places to buy certain items in the UK that I have found to be the cheapest
