Hi! I'm new here :)

I've just upgraded from a 10 gallon to a 55 gallon aquarium, and have decided to run two filters as I purchased both at phenomenal prices.

Fluval 305 Canister Filter ($85)———Marineland Emperor 400 ($27)

The thing I'm wondering now, is: how do I best position the intake and outtake of the canister filter in conjunction with the hang on back power filter?

Should I have intake and outtake as far apart from each other on opposite sides of the tank, with the Emperor in the direct center? Should I have the intake on one side, and the outtake and Emperor next to each other on the opposite side? The outtake on one side, and the intake and Emperor next to each other on the opposite side? Something else entirely?

Thank you very much for any insight/experiences you can share.

I would probably opt for the fluval output at the opposite end of the intake and yes, the Emperor sat in the middle doing its job. In all honesty, i only used to run one 305 on my 55gal and it was good enough, although i did add a power head left hand front to try keep the water moving in a circular motion around the tank.
