Melafix saved him! In case anybody sees this, it started as a bump and turned to swelling and then popeye. I tried salt and didn't work after 3 days, I quarantined and fosed Melafix. Popeye disappeared same day and swelling reduced to normal within two. I'm on day four and fish is doing well. 7 day treatment will complete and back to his tankmates
Hi. This article states it's from injury or taking in too much water but in the end has no solution but to call aquatic vet which I've been advised against by pond keepers. First two paragraphs.

The bump was noticed two days ago and I was told goldfish get benign tumors and just to keep an eye.
This morning I wake up & notice swelling of eyes. I'm now googling and you tubing & gonna call the pond shop when it opens.
I'd appreciate your suggestions on what to do with this poor guy.
