I have a 45 gallon pop up pond on my front porch. I live in Georgia so it doesn't get very cold here usually, but with it being above ground should I do anything different for the winter than you would do for a inground pond?

Sorry i cant help as I dont know how cold it will get in Georgia.

I would say, that unless it is cold enough for the water to freeze over at all, it should be OK. If it does get that cold, I would pop in a heater, via some extension cords. Sorry mate.

The climate of this mountainous country on the eastern shore of the Black Sea is almost tropical in summer, while the winters are warmer even than in the mild southern regions in the Russian Federation to the north.

Cold spells, however, do occur and low temperatures are frequent in winter, both on the high mountains and in the deep, enclosed valleys. The western part of the country is rather wet throughout the year. There are lowlands along the shores of the Black Sea. Here conditions are milder in winter and quite hot in summer.
Tried to select map but it rarely goes below zero at a minimum .
A heater on a thermostat would always be safest however fish do survive in the wild. They tend to swim to the bottom when cold. I think the fact it may also be sheltere in th porch maybe good ? Do you get high winds that can be cold.

They really should be ok. I would keep a heater in during winter, just because there isn't the under ground factor. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, the tempature has been low 30's at night and in the 50's during the day for the most part. Should I set the heater around 60 degrees?

60 degrees is perfect, in my opinion. Just plop a thermometer in, so things can be monitored. With that much water, the temperatures still shouldn't fluxuate that much.
