I noticed that one of my rosy barbs has pop-eye in one eye!! What should I do? Can it spread to other fish? Should I isolate it? HELP!!

PS: No other symptoms, no swollen belly...so I guess no dropsy (phew)

I did a water change. I'll wait a day or two and then get the medicine if it doesn't reduce. Anything else I should know?

One of my mollies got popeye once even though my water conditions were perfect. It cleared up on its own within 2 weeks but there are treatments out there for it if you have a quarantine tank.

It would be best to issolate the fish for treatment you will need anti internal bacteria med.

Hi everyone!

Good news, the pop-eye has practically reduced to zero. I did a 30% WC, thats all. I'll keep a watch and do a 30% change again in two days. No need to quarintine it I guess :)

That's great news.

I had a molly with what I thought was pop-eye in only one eye. I was told that pop-eye happens in both, and the the molly probably scratched his eye on a decoration in the tank. I did nothing, and it cleared up on its own.
